Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why do I crash when I inject / How do I inject?

    • You must wait until Fortitude fully initializes before hitting “Free Roam” upon opening RDR2. Please wait until you see “[Core] Fortitude initialized” and then you may enter the game.
    • Please disable any real-time antivirus protection or make an exclusion that prevents it from interfering with Fortitude or its injection process.
    • OneDrive will normally interfere with Fortitude — please set the launcher’s data location folder, after signing in (you can do so by clicking the yellow folder icon) to a different folder.
    • There may be data read/write permission issues — please set the launcher’s data location folder, after signing in, to a different folder.
    • Be sure to run the Fortitude launcher & game launcher (Rockstar/Steam/EPIC Games launcher) as administrator.
    • If you continue to have issues please restart your PC as unknown third-party software may be interfering.
    • Please also ensure no story-mode mods are installed as they may cause issues.
    • January 2024 Update: If the Fortitude application is suddenly missing then your antivirus may have quarantined it as a false positive. Please navigate to your ‘Windows Security’ panel in the system tray (the ‘shield’ icon where your time is displayed) or click here to open your security panel. Click on Virus & threat protection, then Protection History. In the list, go through the drop-downs to find the affected item “Fortitude” and allow/restore.
  2. Why is authentication stopping at stage 2/4?

    • Your PC time is out of sync. Right-click on your time, click “Adjust date/time”, then click “Sync now” to update your configured time to current.
  3. What happens if I change my PC?

    • Since your key is locked to your hardware you may submit a HWID reset request via Access Management.
    • You may request a HWID reset once per week (7 days).
  4. How do I deal with bad actors / Fortitude users?

    • The best way is to session-ghost to them (this is temporary for the session you are in). You may find this option in Network > Players > [PlayerName] > Sentry > Session Ghost. This user will not be able to see you, hear you, nor interact with you in any way, allowing you to continue along as normal completely unhindered! You can also add bad actors to your Permanent Players list to auto-ghost or blacklist them from entering your sessions (though we suggest this only as a last resort as it can lead to dispersed less-populated lobbies).
    • For other Fortitude users you can enable “Passive Mode” in Network > Fortitude Presence. This does not affect custom LUA scripts.
    • Please do not report other Fortitude users to us. We do not moderate users’ in-game behavior.
  5. What do the [X] tags mean in the player list?

    • [H] – Session Host
    • [SH] – Script Host
    • [S] – Player You Are Spectating
    • [HS] – Player You Are Spectating [Hidden]
    • [S**] – Player Is Spectating
    • [F] – Friend
    • [PL] – Player On Permanent List
    • [SL] – Player On Safe List
    • [V] – Player In Vehicle
    • [N] – Player On Horse
    • [M] – Player Detected As Modder
    • [KM] – Player Previously Detected As Modder [Known Modder]
    • [AG] – Player Is Set To Auto-Ghost
    • [I] – Player Is Inactive [Potentially Ghosting]
    • [Fortitude] – Player Is Using Fortitude
  6. Will I get banned for using Fortitude / “High Risk” Loops & Options?

    • Unfortunately we cannot promise anything, for this is ultimately up to the developers of the game and they will always have ultimate say and action. We can try our best but if they are set on a decision they will ensure it is enforced.
    • The last record for gold bans was around 2021 as per the IGN article.
    • The latest recorded bans have been modmenu-specific.
    • Fortitude adds “risk” labels to options merely as an additional disclaimer.
  7. What does [Permanent] and [Safe] mean in the player list, console, and ESP?

    • These appear when you have a player manually added to either your safe-list of players or permanent-list of players. With permanent-listed players, you can set options to automatically ghost to users (they cannot see you, hear you, interact with you in same session), blacklist users, and more. Safe-listed players will be allowed to render their particles & other effects for their creations without triggering your automatic protections.
  8. Why can I not join people?

    • This feature is only for joining friends seamlessly. They must be on your friend list.
  9. I’ve been crashed by a modder! What do I do?

    • Crashlogs are automatically uploaded to us. Typically it is not the case that another modder has crashed you and we investigate crash logs daily. You can sometimes crash yourself if you spawn too many entities for example, though we have added a measure to protect against this user-error as well. Any new crashes that happen to surface will be patched by the Fortitude development team.
    • Please do not post such incidents in our Discord lobby chats. If you need support please submit a ticket in our Discord server after verifying your Discord account.
    • There is no need to report crashlogs to us. We receive crashlogs automatically.
  10. Why is the “Ped Pool” almost full when I join a new lobby?

    • This can often be caused by other mod menus. Fortitude users can forcibly remove these leftover remnants with World > Nearby Entities > Clean Unnecessary Mission Peds.
  11. Does Fortitude work in story mode?

    • We do not officially support story mode.
  12. How do I remove the ‘Fortitude’ logo at the top of my screen?

    • Untick “Fortitude Logo” in Settings.
  13. Is there a ScriptHook loader for ASI’s?

    • No. We will not be featuring scripthook nor ASIs. We offer custom LUA you may use to create custom features and we will be adding features from the much-enjoyed single-player mods as well.
  14. How do I open the menu with controller?

    • RB + Right D-Pad.
  15. What do the statistics next to the minimap mean?

    • These are client-side pool limits in regard to what you can spawn and the total amount of what others can synchronize to you.
    • Streaming requests refers to how many assets are being requested to be loaded into memory from your storage device.
    • Sentry activity refers to how many events are being filtered both from modders and nonmodders. Typically automatic protections should not trigger for non-modders.
  16. What are the entity pool limits? How do they work?

    • There are various types of categories but the primary ones are NPCs (pedestrians)objectsvehicles, and pickups.
    • Take for example the object limit is 60; If you have 40 objects spawned and another modder tries to spawn 30 objects, you will only see 20 of those as that would equal 60. The other 10 that they’ve spawn you will not see.
    • Entities that you spawn may remain in sessions — please be sure to clean up!
    • Statistics for pools reflect client-spawned mission entities only. This does not count other modders’ entities.
  17. How do I name-spoof icons & other colors?

    • Colors are changed by typing a suffix, letter for the color, and a prefix. In-game when you type your name you can use ^e^YourName to spoof your name as red. For multicolor, you do the same as such: ^e^Red^v^Black.
    • Icons are achieved through HTML character codes. Keep in mind each character counts towards the maximum limit. A common asked-for icon is the logo; &#8721%Fortitude parses ‘%’ to ‘;’ and ‘^’ to ‘~’.
    • Maximum character limit of 16 (all characters included.)
  18. What are some colors / formats that I can spoof with?

    • ^i^ Italic
    • ^b^ Bold
    • ^e^ Red
    • ^u^ Pink
    • ^t1^ Purple
    • ^t2^ Orange
    • ^t3^ Light Blue
    • ^t4^ Yellow
    • ^t5^ Light Pink
    • ^t6^ Green
    • ^v^ Black
    • ^q^ White
    • ^m^ Gray
    • ^t^ Light Gray
    • ^s^ Reset
  19. Why do I keep getting [Error] The game process has terminated unexpectedly before I completely inject?

    • This seems to be a problem that very few users have received and is, despite our efforts, unfortunately something we do not have a solution for. This seems to be potentially third-party software interfering. We can suggest that you (a) verify the integrity of your game, (b) reinstall your game, or (c) attempt on a different PC. As a last resort either try on a different Windows account profile or reset your PC (as this worked for some users).
    • It has come to light that other users have either disabled vital Microsoft services which are resulting in issues, or have tampered with their Windows exploit protection options. Be sure to double-check these!
    • Malware or other unwanted software that uses interception techniques could also interfere. We recommend a fresh reset of your PC to mitigate any such unforeseen issues.
  20. How do I use drunken ‘slaps‘ and ‘hugs‘ on others?

    • You can use melee interactions (E and F) to hug and slap players when in a drunken state combined with the appropriate brawling style. Enable Player > Become Drunk and Player > Style > Brawling Style (set to ‘Player Moonshiner’).
    • Remember to disable the brawling style to return to normal melee mechanics!
  21. Why are missions and/or moonshine shacks infinitely loading?

    • Player > Off Radar can affect entering the moonshine shack. Please be sure this is disabled.
    • Model-changing can interfere with missions starting. Be sure to be your default model. If you’re still unable to load missions after changing model, re-enter the game from the menu (Network > Leave Session) or restart RDR2.
